Jimmy Weaver

Contributed by Harold (Diz) Kronenberg

This is the view over the wing of our airplane, as we flew over Paris, France on a bombing mission of marshalling yards. The photo was taken by our radio gunner, Jimmy Weaver. Flak was heavy. There were few fighters. This picture is on the cover of the 390th Bomb Group Anthology and was published in the National Geographic magazine in color. Many people have taken credit for this photograph, however, I can assure you that it was Jimmy Weaver who checked out the K-20 camera from our 390th Base at Framlingham, England and snapped this picture. I have a copy of the original framed in my home.
