Yugoslovia During German Occupation |
![]()
Written by Harold (Diz) Kronenberg
| During World War II, Yugoslavia had two factions vying for
power while fighting the Germans. Tito (Josip Broz), leader of the Communist faction, eventually received the support of the United
States after the U.S. became allied with Stalin and the Russians, and it also became clear that Tito would be victorious. Mihailovich
(General Draza Mihajlovic) and his Chetniks opposed Tito. When Tito gained control, he had Mihailovich put to death. Ed. note: General Mihailovich had a son and daughter who fought in the underground for the Communist Tito. |
