Miss Ione Gilbertson, daughter of Mrs. George Gilbertson, 515 Forest Street, and Private First Class Everett Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Baker of Alliance, NE, were married here at 8 pm Saturday, August 21, at a candlelight service at the First Lutheran Church, the Reverend A.S. Tanner performing the ceremony.

The bride wore a velveteen suit of periwinkle blue with matching Juliet cap from which fell a shoulder-length veil. She wore a gold cross, the gift of the groom. Her corsage was of pink and white roses and stephanotis. The matron of honor, Mrs. Mildred Plomedahl, wore a forest green velveteen dress with black accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The groom was attended by Private Earl Stevens of Kansas City, MO.

Marion Holman, accompanied by Oscar Waller, organist, sang Calm as the Night and 0, Perfect Love during the services. 

Preceding the wedding, a dinner was served to members of the bridal party and immediate family at the White House Inn. 

Events in honor of the bride include a miscellaneous shower on Thursday, August 26, given by Mrs. Lawrence Wendt and Mrs. John Woletz at the Gilbertson home. Mrs. Vernon J. Gilbertson, Mildred Plomedahl and Viola Schlageter entertained at a crystal shower Thursday evening, September 2, at the Schlageter home. The bride's club also presented her with a beautiful gift. 

After a short wedding trip, the bride returned to her home here and the groom to his duties at Camp McCoy.


Corporal Everett Baker of Camp Forrest, TN is visiting in the city. He was accompanied by his wife who had been visiting him for the past month.

Corporal Everett Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Baker, Alliance, NE, has arrived in France, according to word received by his wife who resides at 515 Forest Street.

He entered the service in December 1941 and received his training at Camp McCoy; Camp Forrest, TN; and several others. He is with a tank destroyer battalion.  He was stationed in England since last July.
