and MRS. JOHNNY M. ELDRIDGE Aviation Cadet Johnny M. Eldridge and his bride, the former Dolores J. Steubing of Eau Claire, are shown after their wedding, which took place in St. Peter's Episcopal Church at Santa Maria, CA at 5 pm on May 20. They are now making their home in Stockton, CA, where Aviation Cadet Eldridge, who was a member of the 301st training detachment in Eau Claire last year, is in the last phases of his training. He will receive his wings and commission some time in November of this year. Mrs. Eldridge is the daughter of John Steubing and the late Mrs. Steubing, Oakwood Place, this city. Aviation Cadet Eldridge is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Eldridge of Clovis, NM. The wedding ceremony was performed by Reverend Alfred C. Bussingham, vicar of the church. The bride was given in marriage by her father, who had accompanied her to California. Her gown was of white silk jersey with fitted bodice and full skirt with long train. Her shoulder-length veil was attached to a cap of Irish crochet. She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses and bouvardia with an orchid in the center. The maid of honor was the groom's sister, Yeoman Alma M. Eldridge, United States Naval Reserve, who wore the white uniform of the WAVES. The best man was Cadet Harry Downs, who has been in training with the groom for the past two years. The ceremony was climaxed by the traditional crossed sabers of 12 of the groom's cadet friends. After the wedding, a large reception was given at the "Little Theater" by Mrs. Clinton Ferguson, sponsor of cadet wives. The wedding cake was cut by the bride and groom, using the groom's saber. A wedding dinner was given at the scenic "Ranchhouse" at Santa Maria for Mr. and Mrs. Eldridge. The bride's father, Miss Eldridge, Aviation Cadet Downs and the 12 cadets of the Honor Guard were guests. Mrs. Eldridge is a graduate of Eau Claire High School and attended State Teacher's College. |
