ENSIGN JOHN D. ALLEN John D. Allen, son of Mrs. Vera G. Allen, 320 West Grand Avenue, was among approximately 1190 midshipmen graduated on January 20 from the U.S. Naval Reserve Midshipmen's School, University of Notre Dame, Indiana, with a commission as Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve, as a Deck Officer. Ensign Allen left for Maryland for active duty yesterday, after spending a leave with his mother here. He is a graduate of Eau Claire Senior High School, 1939, and attended the teachers college here. |

| IN FRANCE Ensign John D. Allen, son of Mrs. J. E. Allen, 320 West Grand Avenue, was a member of a United States Naval crew in the American assault force which invaded France. It was his first action with the enemy. |
